How can I save time on the motorway?

Need to hit the motorway for your holiday? In order to avoid likely long traffic jams and wasting your time, especially at each toll, remember to plan your trip. Leave at the right time, during off-peak periods or during less busy hours. You can also listen to radio station 107.7 to find out about the real-time traffic situation. Using a Bip&Go electronic toll badge is also an excellent option to save time on the motorway!

Plan your trip during off-peak times - which periods?

During school holiday periods, especially in July and August, many motorists see their journeys lengthen due to traffic jams on the motorway.
For this reason, think about choosing the low season periods to travel serenely. Traffic tends to decrease on the motorway during these times, thus saving time for travellers.

The other advantage of going on a trip out of season is that you will meet fewer tourists at your holiday spot!

Leaving at uncrowded times - what time is best?

During the day, there are times when the motorways are very congested. To escape the crowds on the roads and avoid getting stuck in traffic jams, choose the following time slots:

  • • mornings before 9:00 AM;

  • • Evenings after 10:00 PM.

Traffic is relatively flowing during these times. By leaving early in the morning or late at night, you’re sure to be able to navigate the motorway with ease.

Listen to 107.7 to avoid any nasty surprises while on the road

During the trip, don’t think twice about listening to 107.7. This live radio frequency allows you to be notified about news on the motorways 24 hours a day. It gives you real-time information about traffic conditions, forecasts, weather conditions and safety regulations.

Good to know: the Sanef Group disseminates its traffic information directly on the internet!

To listen to 107.7, you can log in using your phone or computer. Remember: it is forbidden to wear headphones while driving. Wearing headphones or a helmet while driving makes you liable for a fine and licence points. This is why it is better to use the hands-free mode.

Subscribing to a Bip&Go electronic toll badge - what time savings can I expect?

Using the Bip&Go electronic toll badge also saves you considerable time! Attached to the windscreen, to the right of the rear-view mirror, this badge allows you to go through toll barriers without stopping. You’ll be able to quickly go through the toll barrier and arrive at your destination on time.
With Bip&Go, tolls are paid monthly, and expenses will be automatically debited from your credit card. You pay nothing during the months when you don’t use the motorway.
