How do I use my badge in electronic toll payment lanes in Italy?

Electronic toll payment works the same way in Italy and in France. It uses the Telepass system, which is similar to the French liber-t system. Like in France, most Italian electronic toll gates are equipped with 30km/h reserved lanes. Telepass electronic toll payment reserved lanes are signalled with the telepass logo. You can also use mixed lanes with the mixed logos. There also motorways equipped with the Free Flow system (no toll barriers), indicated by these signs: mixed . The badge also works in certain car parks and on certain ferry services with the mixed logo.

I have checked my subscriber area and my badge cannot be used in Italy, what can I do?

To make this change, go to the “TRACK MY BADGES” section on the “MY BADGES” page. Then, select: “change for Spain, Portugal and Italy”. A new badge usable in Italy will be shipped to you within 48 hours. Using this badge, you can also enjoy electronic toll payment services in Spain and Portugal, if you so wish. You can also exchange your badge in one of our branches.

PLEASE NOTE : The €10 yearly Spain subscription plan is not available for the Liber-t Vacances plan.

Where can I use my Bip&Go Europe badge in Italy?

You can use your Bip&Go badge on all motorways in Italy. You can also use your badge to pay for car parks and ferry services that accept Telepass electronic toll payment, which are indicated by the logo mixed . How can I use my Europe badge to pay for the ferry in Italy?

To use your badge to pay for the ferry in Italy, follow these steps:
Take the lanes indicated by the logo mixed .
Obey the signs in the lane and the information provided to take your ticket then wait for the barrier to open and the light to turn green.
If there is a problem, please ask for help from staff.
If your badge does not work, you can buy your ticket from the counter with another payment method.

How can I use my Bip&Go Europe badge to pay for parking?

Take the lanes indicated by the mixed logo at the entrance and exit of the car park. Obey the signs in the car park. If there is a problem, please ask for help from the car park staff.

What do I do if the barrier doesn’t open or the badge doesn’t work in Italy?

If your badge doesn’t work or the barrier doesn’t open, please ask for help from staff.

  • If your badge is not detected at the start of the motorway, please take a ticket. At the exit, choose an all-payment lane indicated by this sign: mixed . Then, insert your ticket. Your number plate (associated with your badge) will be read and will associate your journey and its cost with your badge.
  • If your badge is not detected at the motorway exit, request assistance through the button provided in the lane.
  • Should there be a problem on a Free Flow motorway (no toll barriers), your number plate (associated with your badge) will be read and will associate your journey and its cost with your badge.

→ It is important to update the number plate associated with your badge regularly, by logging in to your Bip&Go subscriber area. Any change of number plate in your customer area will take effect within 24 hours.

Which lane should I take (for my vehicle) in Italy?

You can use your Europe badge with class 1, 2 and 5 vehicles and vehicles equivalent to class 1 according to the French classification system.
